Metastatic Tumors

Metastasis is a medical term which is very closely associated with the most deadly disease that occurs in human body, cancer. The term Metastasis refers to the spread of a disease from one part of the human body to all adjacent organs at a very fat pace. It is due to metastasis that cancer spreads so fast inside the body and lead to death of the patient. Metastasis spreads from the metastatic tumours that form from malignant infections and tumor cells. If a patient is found to be suffering from metastasis it is considered that he or she is not going to survive for long.

The main factor that encourage the growth of metastatic tumours in the human body is the spilling or breaking up of cancer cells from a primary tumor. Getting detached from the source tumor the broken cancer cells gradually enters into the blood and lymphatic vessels through bloodstream and continue to grow within normal tissues in different parts of the body. The cancer cells gradually grow into tumors and sometimes get metastasizing, which is one of the three main reasons of malignancy. According to oncologists except two or three types of tumors like the glioma and basal cell carcinoma, most of the other tumors and neoplasms ave a tendency to metastasize.

Speaking about metastatic tumours it has to be mentioned here that these are also called secondary tumors as they form from the cancer cells that have been detached from the primary tumor inside the body. But the cells of the metastatic tumours are as fatal as the cells in the original tumors. This is the reason why metastasis spreads from one body organ top other adjacent parts of the body. Breast cancer is the perfect example of metastasis as it spreads from the breast to the lungs. Breast cancer is one of the most fatal form of cancer that occurs in human body, specially in the body of women. Breast cancer spreads very quickly from the breast to lungs as the gap between the lungs and the breast is very little. Metastatic tumours that form from the spilled cells of the tumor in the breast easily enters into the lungs through blood and lymphatic vessels and start spreading malignancy in the lung.

One of the most important thing to be mentioned about metastatic tumours is that they occur in the late stage of cancer and that's why it becomes almost impossible to save the life of the patient. Metastasis spreads rapidly to all parts of the body though the lymphatic and blood cells. It must be mentioned here that bones, adrenals, liver and brain are the most common places from where metastatic tumours spread malignancy to all the adjacent body organs at a very fast pace.
