Breast Cancer is among the fatal diseases that can hardly be cured with the help of medicine. Surgery is the only effective way to cure Breast Cancer. In order to get rid of this fatal disease, people need to undergo complicated operation. In some cases even the disease can recur later. The patient needs to go for the operation after consulting a number of experts, as the patient must know at what stage the operation has the highest possibility of being successful.

Surgery for Breast Cancer:

Most of the women with breast cancer need to undergo some sort of operation. Mastectomy, axillary or armpit lymph node sampling, breast-conserving surgery, removal are different types of breast cancer operations. Women who undergo a mastectomy operation can think of have their breast reconstruction done, either at the very time of the previous surgery or later.

Breast-conserving Surgery:

Lumpectomy is a form of operation that removes the breast lump and also the normal kinds of tissues round the affected area. There are several kinds of side effects of any of the operations of breast cancer. The side effects may include temporary swelling, pain, tenderness or even hardness of the area mainly due to scar tissue featured in the surgical site. In case a large portion of the breast needed to be removed, then the deformity of that part of the body will remain quite visible.

In case of the most of the women who has the breast cancer of stage I or II, breast conservation therapy or the lumpectomy may be needed. Lumpectomy is as effective a process as mastectomy. The survival rate of all women who are treated with the help of these 2 surgeries is almost the same. Every woman with breast cancer can not undergo the surgeries of breast cancer. There are certain factors that may control this. Radiation therapy is definitely a part of breast conserving therapy, but this part of the therapy can be needed to be exempted due to certain factors. These factors are enlisted below.

• A tumor of around 2 cm or less that has recently been removed
• Age 70 years or older
• In case the tumor is hormone receptor-positive
• No lymph node is involved
• Suppose the woman is getting hormone therapy
