Approximately 178,480 women and 2,030 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year out of which nearly 40,460 women and 450 men in the U.S. die from the disease yearly. There are over 2 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S. alone. In United States there are over 250,000 women under the age of 40 suffering from breast cancer. In her lifetime she has a 1 in 8 chance of developing breast cancer. Every 13 minutes, a life is lost to breast cancer. The breast cancer foundations worldwide arranges for breast cancer walk every year to promote awareness among women about breast cancer and the advantages of an early detection through self examination and mammography.

The Avon Foundation in Houston is a public charity that arranges for breast cancer walk to encourage women to perform monthly breast self exam and undergo a clinical examination. For continuous 2 days the volunteers of Avon Foundation has walked for 39 miles for spreading the breast cancer awareness. In the breast cancer walk organized by the organization you have the opportunity to dramatically impact the lives of millions affected by breast cancer in the world. By involving yourself in the Avon Walk, you’ll let medically under-insured women and men to obtain the screening, support, and treatment they need. Making Strides against Breast Cancer is to make the general public understand more about the disease. The breast cancer walk help you feel positive and make someone suffering from the deadly disease feel positive. The breast cancer walk is a noncompetitive walk to help fight breast cancer and instill some hope among those fighting with breast cancer. The American Cancer Society is funding lifesaving research on prevention and early detection and other support programs for those suffering from breast cancer. The chances of survival in Canada are better in comparison to other countries of the world. The BC Foundation is dedicated to improving survival in breast cancer. The Breast Cancer walk was even organized in other cities of Canada like Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, Halifax, and Edmonton.

Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. Susan G. Komen for the Cure is a global breast cancer movement started in 1982. Since its inception Komen for the Cure has been actively fighting against breast cancer. The Breast Cancer 3 day is a 60 kilometer walk organized for the Komen for the Cure to fight against breast cancer and raise funds for breast cancer research and patient support programs. The 3 day breast cancer walk raised millions of dollar for breast cancer research and programs.
